Improve the Texture of Your Skin

Surface laser treatments improve the overall health of the superficial layer of your skin or epidermis. Therefore, it is often recommended for aging skin, that has resulted in crepey, loose or wrinkled skin. In youth, these lasers can help in improving textural abnormalities, such as acne scarring or enlarged pores. These treatments can be used on the face or anywhere on the body.

FAQs

Depending on the condition of the skin, optimal results can be achieved in as little as one treatment or can take up to three treatments. Some conditions require a series of treatments which are often done one month apart.

The procedure is often described as a sunburn-like sensation. This is eased with a cooling device, which forces cold air at the treated skin. A topical anesthetic is used prior to the treatment for added comfort as well as an option for use of Nitrous Oxide called ProNox.

Most people compare it to having a mild to moderate sunburn depending on the depth needed for repair. The sensation can last 30-60 minutes for a mild treatment and up to 24 hours for a moderate treatment depth or for someone who has sensitive skin.

The following day you will experience a mild to moderate flushing of the face. You may also see mild swelling that resolves in 24-48 hours. The treatment area may have a bronzed appearance or micro crusts may form lasting for as little as a day or two or up to a week. Hybrid downtime can be longer depending on your goals and extent of treatment. This is an expected part of the healing and repair process.

Skin is smoother, firmer and brighter. Wrinkles are smoothed and diminished. In some cases, the skin is lifted and tighter. The Tixel can be used to treat the lid of the eye as well.

While some patients may see a result in as little as 2 weeks, the majority of patients will see results gradually appear over the course of 1-3 months.

The laser treatment is a fractionated laser treatment. This means that the laser does not strip the entire surface of the skin but only treats a fraction of the skin’s surface. This makes the treatment very safe. Because it is non-invasive and requires no incisions, there is very little risk for infection or scarring. The laser penetrates only the superficial layers of the skin’s surface, targeting conditions that naturally lie superficial to the dermis.

It is recommended that you avoid harsh products such as Retin-A or Retinols for at least 1 week prior to treatment. Avoid having tanned or sunburned skin prior to treatment. Those with darker skin types may need to pre-treat with a skin lightening cream such as hydroquinone for up to 2 weeks prior to treatment.

These Laser Treatments are safe and approved for all skin types. It is safe to be used anywhere on the body and the treatment can be done on delicate areas such as the skin of the eyes, neck or on the chest.

These Laser Treatments can help to turn back the clock but it doesn’t stop the aging process. Treatments are long lasting because they repair the skin, but you still need to take good care of your skin, drinking plenty of water, eating healthy, minimizing stress and avoiding sun exposure. All of these steps will help you keep your youthful appearance longer.
