What is AccuVein®?
AccuVein® is a cutting-edge means of visualizing your veins from the surface of your skin. The AccuVein® device is able to create a “mapping” of your veins through vein detection without making any contact with your skin. This award-winning illumination technology makes it easier and more sufficient for accessing your veins for injections and other procedures that require vascular entrance.
How does AccuVein® work?
When the AccuVein® handheld device hovers over the surface of the skin, infrared light is delivered to the body. The hemoglobin within the blood is able to absorb this infrared light, making vascular structures visible from the surface of the skin for easier access or avoidance, depending on the requirements of your treatment. This is how our vein detection works.
What is a micro-cannula?
A micro-cannula is a very fine and flexible tube with a smooth, circular end. Alternative to that of a traditional needle, micro-cannulas are a new method of delivery for injectable formulas as a relatively painless and easier means of accessing levels beneath the surface of the skin. Unlike needles, micro-cannulas are unlikely to leave behind bruising so you don’t have to be reminded of the exact location of your injection.
What are some benefits of a micro-cannula over a needle?
- Decreased pain than a needle
- Less bleeding than a needle
- Unlikely to leave behind bruising
- Reduced trauma to the tissue
How is a micro-cannula inserted into the skin?
A traditional needle is used to create the opening of the skin, to which the micro-cannula will follow. The site of the injection can be numbed to enhance your comfort during your procedure.
