What Is It?
Mesotherapy uses FDA approved medications, minerals and antioxidants that work to alter the metabolism of the fatty tissue. Mesotherapy melts the fat and breaks up the network of connective tissue fibers that form trapping fat cells that cause cellulite. It is used to contour fat as well as cleave or break down the connective tissue bands that cause the dimpling seen with cellulite. MesoContouring can be performed anywhere on the body, the arms, stomach, waist, hips and thighs. It can also be performed on the cheeks and neck.



How does it work?
Using a very tiny needle (0.4 to 0.6 cm or the size of a eyelash), the medication is injected into the mesoderm relatively painlessly. This occurs because the needle is specially manufactured to deliver the medicine in a series of painless injections in a typical treatment. Sometimes the technique of "multi-pricking" is used, where a number of swift, painless injections are concentrated in a specific area. Patients have universally responded that the treatments cause less pain than a momentary, light pinch.

It is a common question to pose "Where does the fat go?" The fat is broken down to its building blocks and is excreted as it normally is, as waste.



What should my expectations be?
The treatment for cellulite is permanent as long as patients do not gain more than 15 pounds. After a series of treatments for spot reduction, some patients have reported 2-4 inch weight loss in their hips, thighs and waist. This treatment is also being used for thinning under the chin and to address fullness in the neck.



How should I prepare for this treatment?
undefined It is recommended for all patients undergoing Mesotherapy to adopt a low carbohydrate, low sugar, natural healthy diet, which will be easy to follow.
undefined A patient needs to increase their water intake. As toxins are eliminated from the body, water is needed to flush these substances, along with dissolved fat out of the body.
undefined Exercise is needed to circulate the medications used, with either walking or another form of aerobic activity, three times a week.
undefined Patients should avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications (like Ibuprofen, Naproxen, and Celebrex), St. John's Wort, and Vitamin E and Aspirin. Patients should avoid drinking alcohol for 7 days prior to treatment. These substances thin the blood and increase the chances of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.



How long will it take?
The procedure will last anywhere from 15-60 minutes depending on the extent of the treatment.



Is it painful?
It is not uncommon for a patient to experience a little discomfort during the procedure. Comfort is achieved by the addition of cool forced air placed at the injection site.



Is it safe?

Are there any side effects?
Bruising, swelling and soreness are expected in the area of treatment. The swelling can last at a minimum of 24 hours with the majority of the swelling subsiding by 3-5 days. Bruising can last anywhere from 3-7 days. Soreness is typically short lived and can resolve within 1-7 days. On rare occasions, temporary lumps can be felt beneath the skin and is related to the process of fat encapsulation and breakdown.



How long is the downtime?
Recovery usually lasts the rest of the treatment day and throughout the night. Therefore, return to normal activities can be almost immediate. Compression can help to relieve the discomfort and ice may also aid in reducing the swelling in the first few hours following treatment.



How soon will I see results?
The rewards can be seen in as little as 2-4 weeks but can take as long as 3 months for maximum results.

How long lasting are the results?
