What Kinds of Acne Treatments Does Lasting Skin Solutions Offer?
Acne is the most common skin disorder in the United States, and it can range from mild (whiteheads and blackheads) to severe (cystic or nodular). Lasting Skin Solutions, therefore, offers a variety of treatments to people in the Madison, WI area. The right treatment depends on the severity of the acne.
Mild cases, for example, may be treated with skin creams that are applied directly to the affected skin. We may also use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or PPX lasers to kill the bacteria causing the condition. Depending on the severity of the acne, the patient may need only one treatment, or they might need several.
The dermatologist may prescribe oral medications for moderate or severe acne. They may also recommend a Sciton laser with Broad Band Light (BBL). We may use Levulan to amplify the results of the laser treatment.
Severe cases may be treated either with Accutane or SkinTyte. The latter is a laser treatment that uses heat to shrink the sebaceous gland. The patient may need one to multiple treatments, and the results can last for multiple years.
How Does Laser Treatment Work?
Depending on the type of laser used, laser acne treatment either kills the bacteria or shrinks the sebaceous gland to reduce the amount of oil it produces. The laser treatments can be applied to all the places that develop acne. The patient will start to see results anywhere from three weeks to multiple months after the first treatment, depending on the laser that is used.
